2025 National Survey on Adult Influenza Vaccination – Key Insights

New NCIRS survey reveals what’s driving adult flu vaccination intentions in 2025

NCIRS has released new findings from its 2025 national survey on adult influenza vaccination, conducted as part of the National Vaccination Insights project. The survey included 2,009 adults aged 18+ and explored what motivates or discourages people from getting the influenza vaccine ahead of the 2025 flu season. Results were compared with data collected in 2024 to identify changes in attitudes and behaviours over time.

The survey highlights:

  • The key behavioural and social drivers influencing adults’ intention to receive a flu vaccine in 2025.
  • How these drivers shifted from 2024 to 2025, including both increases and decreases in confidence, motivation, and perceived risk.
  • The main reasons adults do not plan to get vaccinated, grouped into themes such as beliefs about personal health, vaccine safety, trust in authorities, cost and convenience, and perceptions of flu severity.

NCIRS is also conducting a series of in-depth interviews with adults, with results expected in 2026.
