WHO expert panel reaffirms no link between vaccines and autism
The World Health Organization has reaffirmed that there is no causal link between vaccines and autism, following a major safety review of international evidence published over the past decade.
A new analysis by the World Health Organization’s Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS) has reaffirmed that there is no causal association between vaccines and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The review examined 31 international studies published between 2010 and August 2025 and found consistent evidence supporting the safety of childhood and pregnancy vaccinations, including no link between ASD and thiomersal-containing vaccines or aluminum adjuvants.
The findings reinforce decades of global evidence and previous WHO reviews, highlighting immunisation as one of the most effective public health interventions, estimated to have saved 154 million lives worldwide over the past 50 years.
