New Immunisation Dashboards Improve Access to Australian Vaccination Data

The Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has launched a new suite of self-service immunisation dashboards, providing healthcare professionals, policymakers and the community with easier access to vaccination data from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

The new dashboards are designed to support evidence-based decision making by offering a clearer picture of immunisation coverage across Australia throughout different stages of life.

Four dashboards covering the lifespan

The dashboards are organised into four key areas:

Together, they provide comprehensive information on vaccine uptake and coverage, helping users monitor trends and identify opportunities to improve protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Detailed, filterable vaccination data

Each dashboard includes data on:

  • Vaccination doses administered
  • Number of people vaccinated
  • Vaccination coverage

Users can customise the data using a range of filters, including:

  • State and territory
  • Statistical Area Level 3 (SA3)
  • Age
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status
  • Provider type
  • Gender

The Respiratory Immunisation Dashboard also includes an antenatal indicator, allowing users to explore vaccination data during pregnancy.

Regularly updated information

The Respiratory Immunisation Dashboard is updated weekly, providing timely information on vaccination coverage for:

  • Influenza
  • COVID-19
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

The Childhood, Adolescent and Older Australians dashboards are updated monthly and include data on vaccines recommended through the National Immunisation Program.

The Adolescent dashboard includes vaccination data for:

  • Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP)
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Meningococcal ACWY

The Older Australians dashboard includes:

  • Herpes zoster (shingles)
  • Pneumococcal vaccination

Supporting informed decision making

The new dashboards improve transparency and accessibility of immunisation data, making it easier for health services, researchers, governments and communities to monitor vaccination coverage and identify areas where additional efforts may be needed.

To help users interpret the data, the Department has also released a User Guide and Methodology Guide, providing practical instructions on using the dashboards and explaining how the reported metrics are calculated.

These new tools represent an important step towards making Australian immunisation data more accessible and actionable, supporting informed policy development and strengthening efforts to protect Australians against vaccine-preventable diseases.
