The Immunisation Action Week (IAW) is a national awareness program focused on highlighting the importance of vaccination, especially in a pandemic world. All information provided is based on current scientific evidence. The week occurs in April of each year to coincide with World Immunisation Week, with a variety of activities for the general public, as well as healthcare professionals. This annual event reaches a pinnacle with a national, free Influenza Vaccination Day on Friday (28th).

Free Influenza Vaccination Days 2023
The highlight of the 2023 Immunisation Action Week are the free influenza vaccination clinics held in Melbourne, Sydney and for the first time in 2023 Brisbane on Friday 28th April.
Over 2,000 vaccinations will be offered to the public on the day, helping to protect the community from the serious effects of influenza.

Immunisation Coalition Art Prize
The Immunisation Coalition Art Prize is an annual event. It aims to highlight and promote contemporary artists and support our mission to raise awareness of influenza, vaccination and the burden of infectious disease using science based evidence.
Submissions are closed for 2023, and winners will be announced during the IAW.

Influenza: it’s not a cold, it’s a killer
Influenza is not simply a “bad cold”, it can result in serious health complications and can lead to hospitalisation and even death.
In a typical year, influenza is responsible for many hospital admissions and more fatalities than the national road toll.
